I have one of the Big Boy's released last year and today the bell actually fell off the engine. I tried to put is back on, however, it is clearly not going to stay on. I looked on the Lionel website to order a replacement part but it says to contact Lionel so I did by sending an email to Talktous@lionel.com.
Speaking to some of my club members 4 of the 5 of us have had the bell fall off. All 4 of us attempted and failed to re install. A few folks set them back for replacement as not to void the warranty.
One member has already received a replacement bell. No instructions on how to swap the part. Looking at the bottom of the replacement part it appears that you need to take the body off the frame, unscrew the original bell then re install.
Has anyone replaced the bell? If so, can you provide some direction and the time it took to swap out the part. My two options are do it myself or send it to Lionel for repairs.
