Hi all, I am interested in picking up a Milwaukee Bipolar engine. Would prefer to get the MTH variety (for money reasons) but recommended track is 072 while the more expensive Lionel is listed at 054. Question to members, has anyone tried to run the MTH Bipolar on anything less than 072, any info would be greatly appreciated. I currently have an o54 lionel tubular layout and cannot fit an 072 arc in the space I have btw. Layout is a simple oval design. Thanks in advance.

If I may just speak "philosophically": if you can swing the money for the Lionel, a loco that apparently actually fits your layout, I would go that way. Visually, one is probably as good as the next.
Of course, if the dollars aren't there, they're not there, but if at all possible buy the suit that fits, even if you have to save a bit longer. You don't want to look at the MTH loco and say "...nah; I'll run it later - that second curve always gives it fits" - then always run something else. That really is expensive.
D500, words to live by for sure but was interested in someone who actually tried (or can try) before I buy.
