Lionel Cable Question - Please Help!

The "A" connection is the center pin, black wire. The "U" connection is the bottom pin, white wire.

OK, one more question:  On a transformer like the PH135, is the ribbed part of the zipcord the HOT or the COMMON?

Is the plug missing on your PH135? On my PH180s, it’s not consistent. I’m thinking the factory wired them so they were all phased the same and maybe used cords ended up not the same.

The plug had been cut off and I re-connected a Lionel cable end from the TMCC TPC Cable set.  I was checking to make sure I had done it correctly.  Turns out that I had.

I just wanted to be sure, which is why I'm asking if the Ground cable is smooth or ribbed.

Very good. If you had to check the phase of it compared to another brick or transformer, you would connect a wire of it to a wire of the comparison brick and put the two remaining wires across an 18 volt bulb. If the bulb lights, then you have to reverse the wires of the questionable brick.
