I was gutting this caboose because the smoke unit failed and didn't notice it had a blinking rear red light could some one tell me where the wires go to get the blinking light to work.

My guess would be the two white wires labeled LT.

are you replacing the smoke unit? is this just a fan driven unit used in the diesels? with an on and off switch? id like to look into a few units to install in my caboose's.

If you didn't know this caboose had a flashing rear light, perhaps it was turned off by the switch on the bottom of the frame.
And if the light switch was turned off, you also turned off the smoke unit. You might want to double-check this before throwing anything out.
If you need a replacement for the smoke unit (610-7606-100), shoot me a note. I have a few extras.

The smoke unit had melt down, made of all plastic. It was a puffer type not fan driven. Caught it just before the sides really melted down. been a couple of weeks and still stinks. This caboose is 99% plastic. Only the trucks and ladders are metal. Putting it together now.

All fixed thank you everyone for the help.

I just got this caboose. The smoke unit does not work. The blinking light does work. But the switch to turn off the blinking lights does not turn it off. Do you think that on off switch is causing the smoke not to work? How can I test the smoke unit? Is there a resistor an& wick inside the smoke assembly? What to do?
