Engine will run in forward only and smoke unit not working. Disconnected smoke unit from engine and applied power to smoke unit only and it started to smoke. So smoke unit appears to be ok

How are you operating the train? Conventional or Command? Did you test the direction operation in conventional mode?
There's a smoke/no smoke switch under the loco. Is that ON?
Is the run/program switch set to run? IIRC, if under PGM it will only allow one direction of travel.
only used in conventional mode, he does not have remote command control!

Did you get this issue resolved? What was the solution? I just purchased the same vintage Camelback and it is not smoking. The slide switch is in the correct position.
