I hate to nit pick but what do these two statements mean.

  • Complimentary 50% discount on all Lionel Service Part Orders the day of the Open House (offer extended to on‐line orders August 17th through August 18th **

Does this mean 8/17  00:01 until 8/18 23:59 or

          8/17  00:01 until 8/17 23:59 or

I was going to record it on my calendar and realized I'm not sure what's meant by this.  The 12:00 midnight thing always confuses me!!

We went last year and I had a great time.  Great deals on trains and parts.  Anything you purchased  get shipped to you free.  All the players in the hobby were there.  Great time with great people.  The Canfield Ohio area is a great place with great people.  Bill Parisi took Dotty and I to Mercer Junction where we met Dave Minarik the owner.  A great train store to visit.  I have been in a few train stores in my life and this one is top shelf.  While there, we met Larry Brown from the west coast.  I looked around the store and Allan Miller walked in to make a locomotive purchase.  The Lionel visit is on my list of must things to do each year.   Mike Reagan is a man who knows how to throw a great party.

If you do decide to head into town for a Pirates game the following day, you may want to consider heading into town early and paying a visit to the Carnegie Science Center which is just on the other side of Heinz Field from PNC Park (and a pretty easy walk along the river).  It has a wonderful O gauge layout, a WWII era submarine and lots of activities for kids.  It can be a little pricey, but then again, so can going to a baseball game.

I believe that it refers to the 24 hours you can call August 17th.

I am trying to figure out how to time the trip. The trip would be from Michigan, to Indiana, and all the way across Ohio. It is about a 5 hour drive if I stop for a few breaks. The Open house is from 8 to 5. I have to leave by 6 am in the morning to get there by 11 am in the morning. That would be about 6 hours at the open house. Then I have to take the trip back. I would have to watch my diet so I did not eat any foods that would make me sluggish or drowsy for 20 hours.

Marty,

No problem. We could do it on the Friday before the open house. We can make the trip to Mercer Junction and The Underground Railroad Shop again. I will get in touch with Dave and Lou.

If anyone else is interested in seeing Mercer Junction and Lou's layout at his Underground Railroad Shop, please get in touch with me.

Marty has been telling me for a while that I ought to do this. Told me again last weekend as we rode into NYC on the Hudson line from my house. Checked it out, and it is "only" 440 miles from home. Truth is, that's a piece of cake. So I made reservations, and I will be there on Thursday.

Rich, maybe you're more fortunate than I am. I NEED to stop for a few breaks otherwise you're gonna think that you're next to one of those street people in the city. The "don't pee" pills don't work all that great.

Dennis, the wife encouraged me to go. Even after hearing from Marty how great the deals are. And probably having some idea of how much I'll spend. All good -- actually, great.

Gerry

Gerry,

Taking wife already to our first trip to York in Oct, so this was a plus. Besides, the bargains may be great but will not have funds ready til Oct. :-(

I am not sure if I am going to take Friday off and take it easy on the drive out to Ohio or drive Friday Night right after work. Since I work in Ramsey it will be a quicker trip to Rt 80, and will probably just stop at a rest area and get a few Zzzzzssss if needed and be there brite and early on Sat. Morning.

I plan to be there (with my wife Judy) arriving late Friday after a 10 hr drive. We will have to leave Saturday shortly after lunch so I can attend my 50th high school reunion, which is in Fort Wayne, IN - that same afternoon! (Of all coincidences!)

Anyway, I hope to see/meet as many as you as possible Saturday morning at the Open House, and hope that I won't miss too much by leaving around 1:00 PM or so.

Alex
