1. Looking at the bottom of the truck, there is one screw that holds the truck to the frame. Mine keeps working itself loose, no matter how much I tighten it. What is the size of the screw and/or part number, where can I purchase it, and how can I keep the screw from loosening?

2. There are three very small screws that are the same size. Two hold the truck together and one holds the ground wiper to the truck. What size/part number are these screws and where can I purchase them?

Go to Lionel’s parts site and search NYC Caboose. There are a few pics. that show separate truck assembly’s. The one I’m looking at shows a 2.5 x 4mm screw for the wiper. My local Ace hardware carries small metrics. 2.5 mm doesn’t seem to be in the assortment. It’s not really feasible to order from Lionel and pay the $10.00  shipping charge for 1 or 2 screws. Unless there’s some other parts you need. I picked up a nice blackened assortment on Amazon at a reasonable price.

As far as your struck screw loosening. Most setups allow for you to crank the screw tight and it bottoms out on a    mounting boss. The truck is still allowed to pivot on the mount  and the screw just keeps the truck from falling off the chassis. The one exception we’re the Weaver cars that after you tightened the screw down. You backed it off about a half turn to let the truck pivot.

Jeff2035, have you tried a little Locktite, we used it all the time at the lock shop.  It comes in two different colors, one is red and the other is blue, it is a thread locker and does a great job.  One of them doesn't hold as tight as the other one, in fact, it will make it very hard to get the screw out.  The other will hold it really well but it will be easier to get it out if you need to.
