Hello,

I just bought a beautiful Lionel Burlington E5 A-A set on eBay. The product number is 6-14547 and the manual for this loco is number 71-4521-250. I could find the manual number on the Lionel site, but could not get a copy of the manual.

I cannot figure out where the run-program switch is. It looks like it is under a hatch on the roof, about mid way from front to rear, but the hatch does not want to come loose.  I already knocked a vent cover off the rear hatch, which turned out to be only the battery compartment, so I do not want to damage the other hatch.

Is there, indeed, a hatch mid way along the roof?

Does it have the run-program switch under it?

How does it come loose from the roof?

Does anyone have a copy of the manual that they could scan for me, please?

Thanks

Royboy,

If you turn the locomotive upside down you will find the switches under the front truck (really convenient).  Looking at the bottom of the loco there are 2 switches on the left and 1 on the right.  The one on the left nearest the front coupler is RUN/PRG.  Under it is smoke on/off and the 1 on the right is sound/no sound.

Have fun.

Here is a link to the manual, you should be able to print it
