I have an original issue Lion Chief Plus PRR RS-3 w/ plastic gears, and Lionel showed as "Not Available" replacement power truck gears as well as the power truck itself.  After some research, I verified that the newer-model 2017-issue RS-3 (the ones w/ BlueTooth) had available replacement power trucks that would save my original.  From TedS in response to some changes I noted in Lionel LC+ RS's, that it was very hard to track down parts that would retrofit from older or newer models.  So...

Ted S "I was pestering Lionel for this type of information when they switched from dual to single powered axle trucks, and then to back-drivable gears ("LionDrive") on their premium scale diesels.  It makes a difference in the operation, but Hobby shops don't want to open the box and check!"

I suggested that we track changes in K4s as a start- Lionel made many of these since the end of the MPC era, with variances in length, min. curve recommended, features, motor type etc.  Maybe between and among us, we can compile a sequential list of Lionel engine models and changes over the generations??

Let's start with the PRR K4s- going back to the post-MPC era??  I have attached a start of a spreadsheet, showing the K4 features that may matter to a lot of us.  Download the spreadsheet and populate-it/Anyone- please add to this.  Add any columns you think are important- remembers there IS a limit to width here!

I will sort and publish it once we get it (semi) complete, then we can start on another engine where Lionel has released multiple models over the past 30 years or so.

Next: say GP7s and' or GP9s??
