Seeing if anyone else has this issue, I've had mine forever and decided to run it today. I noticed the engine and rpm sound is pretty low. When I turn the volume up, it gets a little louder but the horn and crew talk are very loud. Is this normal?

Legacy locos have 2 volume levels:

VOL^, VOL^,VOL^,........ raises the main volume.

AUX1-VOL^, AUX-1 VOL^, AUX1-VOL^......raises the background sound i.e diesel rumble/steam chuff.

It sounds like the "background" volume level is low.

I've went to aux 1 and it did make it a little louder, but still sounds low compared to other engines
