When replacing the F-3 A (Dummy) pickup roller mechanism is there a right or left side. Does the outside rail pick up have to be the same as the F-3 A Power Unit?
I know the rollers will still make contact with the center rail. Sorry I do not know the correct name for the outside rail plastic pickup "button."

Both outside rails are the same - common so, it makes no difference.
I think you are talking about the black plastic sliding shoe.
When installing the collector assembly, the sliding shoes should make contact with the uncoupling rail. If your uncoupling track has 2 rails that energize when uncoupling, then which side the sliding shoes are on does not matter.
