Hello guys and gals.....

Does anyone have some lionel parts for Fastrack 0-36 manual switch such as a switch stand and base ? I just broke off the switch stand post on the base ( black post with round red sign and black lever) from vacuuming the track of removing cat hair.  Who would have some used switch parts for sale as i need 2 complete switch post stands with base.  I would like to fix my 2 broken switches.

Hi Tiffany,

I'm sorry to hear that you have had a mishap with your switches.  I too managed to break one of my switches in a very similar way, and was able to superglue the broken stand lever back together.  If that doesn't work with yours, here's a link to the Lionel parts page for the O36 manual switch.

I hope that you are able to fix it OK.

Hello Nicole,chessie1971 and PRR2818....

I always thought that super glue never works too well on pot metal (switch stand post) and the break is at the bottom of the lever (square part) and its a clean break.  Would a small brass tubing with small amount of J B weld work as i am not sure how to attach the tubing to the bottom sqaure part of the lever.  I will take a picture of the switch post and the broken piece and post it in here.  I am sure that this must be the weakest part of the manual switch when used by children as we all know how little kids are SMILE.

Hi Tiffany,

If it's broken off right at the base where the square end of the post fits into the pinion gear, then your best bet might simply be to replace the entire post/lever. They are just a press fit into place, and are only $4.00 each. Any remaining piece of the post can be pushed out of the pinion gear after taking the base of the switch apart. I had to dis-assemble mine to get the post out before I super-glued the post back together.

In the meantime, you can still operate the switch by moving the switch blades with a finger, as the manual switches allow for this in their anti-derailing mechanism.
