Has anyone else have had problems with these? I'm about ready to pull my hair out dealing with this. So I'm in the middle of redoing my layout and adding a town with some crossings. I ordered 2 of them and they both don't work out of the box. One lit up and the other did nothing. So I returned them to Train World. They sent 2 back and one of those worked fine and the other only worked twice before the sound stopped and the lights quit flashing. I returned that one and just got it's replacement today and it did the same thing as the last one only working a few times before the sound and flashing lights quit. I called lionel and there sending me returned label. I thought they would be more reliable without any moving parts.

Hi, I had to fiddle with the masts in the socket they plug into to get them to work reliably. Never had a problem with the sound part of it.
Thanks I just don't understand it almost like the circuit board stops working in them. The lights both come on but will not flash and the speaker cracks.
On page 3 of the manual. Do you have both breaks in the isolated sections on the same side as the on/off switch for the sound?
I put one of these in my layout 15 years ago. Its been flawless the whole time, even after it got wet (don't ask)

I have it set up right and have a cw80 slaved in for the time being. They work for a shot time before they lock up and quit working. The one that I recieved that works has been rock solid.
