I am working on a 4x8 layout and planning to have bridges extend over a small stream. One of the bridges I want to use is a girder bridge, and bought Lionel's metal girder bridge #6-12730. When I purchased it online I thought it was compatible with FasTrack, but the bridge seems to be about 3/16" too narrow, give or take.

Do I have any options to make this work aside from returning? I was thinking of taking a 10" piece of FasTrack and whittling down the sides to make it fit and semi-permanently fixing it to the bridge, but I've never done anything like this with plastic before. Thanks for reading.

Edit: not sure the best subforum to put this topic in, since it's related to the bridge I thought it was a structural topic, but in retrospect maybe not...

I'd carve the sides of the track, that is the most expedient method of fitting it in.  It should actually be fairly easy to do, I'd probably do it on my bandsaw and then just clean up the cut.

I have no power tools but this gave me an idea. I ended up using a box cutter knife to shave each side of a 10" FasTrack section and was able to shave off enough of each side to get the track piece to sit comfortably inside the girder bridge. Chuck this post into the bin of "questions that didn't need to be asked"
