I'm in the process of looking for a another body for my and my son's GP9...I want to repaint the new{to me} one in a different roadname than the #6-8665 Bangor and aroostook R/W/B paint scheme the origonal body has. This older body version has the handrails as part of the metal chassis and not the newer ones with the round handrails "on" the body.{1 pulmor w/manual F/N/R}

So my question is, what other engines do I have any swapabilty with....heard K-line was supposed to be the same too....?

Anyone do this before and have any wisdom/pros/cons to add?

Your shell should be mounted by a screw at each end of the cab. This mounting system was first used by Postwar Lionel. MPC continued to use this mounting system for a number of years. So there are many different prepainted Lionel shells that would fit on your chassis. They are commonly offered on Ebay.

There are so many, it would take quite a bit to list them all.

Perhaps if you see one you like on Ebay, you can post about it here and ask whether it will fit.

In my experience blank (unpainted) Lionel Geep shells are not very common. The blank ones I have seen are later issue. At a minimum, one would need to drill the ends for those mounting screws. They usually have a hole in the roof for a flashing light. I do not know what other differences there might be.

Separate sale shells may or may not include marker light / headlight lenses and/or window "glass"
