lionel grade crossing gate issues. (12062-series 1)

Has anyone come up with a solution to repair the Lionel grade crossing (12062 ver1) gates no longer work, the custom plastic gear attached to the arm shaft is worn down. I have searched the forum but found very little on repairs and Lionel does not have any gate assembly in stock. I even looked into converting them series 2 gates but these parts are out of stock too. My other option if parts are no longer is to 3d print an arm that fits in the (series 1) gate housing which would allow use of the (series 2) cam drive unit.
