Back in 2004 I purchased a brand new Lionel H12-44 Switcher Engine. Haven't had any problems with it up to this point. Got it out of the box for the first in about a year to run the other day. I had the CrewTalk & TowerComm working when I first put it on the track. Then all the sudden they stopped working??? Has anyone had this problem before?? What did you do to correct it?? Can't see where there's any battery in it in all the manual's I have. I ran another Lionel Engine that has CrewTalk & TowerComm and it worked fine. Tried the H12-44 on another track and it does the same thing. I have horn & bell and engine sounds. I have my tracks hooked up to a Legacy 990 with a CAB-2. Have it run threw a TPC-300 for each track. I've reprogrammed it numerous times. Thanks Guys TT

The H12-44 don't have a battery. Did you do the factory reset?
Yes I did it a couple of times and still nothing.
First up double check you have it switched to sounds from no sounds
Next do a factory reset
If no joy, are there any other functions missing?
Otherwise sounds like an R2 board. If you need it replaced, and you are not too sure about doing the work. I can replace it for you... I have a line of TMCC trains I am repairing now.
I checked to make sure the it wasn't in the "no sounds" setting. Made sure it was in RS. Reset it numerous times. Still no CrewTalk.
Here is the link for the correct manual if you don't have one.
