IIRC, Lionel produced at least 3 of these post-war throwbacks in the mid 80s. NY Central, Wabash (JC PENNEY w/ display case), and Milwaukee Road (from FARR set?). Does anyone know of any others? Is anyone currently using them on their layout? How have they held up over time?

Haven't seen you post in quite a while Mark. lionel never had a postwar NYC GP9. (although their HO line did.) The Burlington 2328 is cover by the Conventional Classic series around 2002. It has a separate motor and truck assembly. The 2338 Milwaukee Road has been covered a couple of times in different series, both with and without the orange band in the cab. These had separate motors.  The 2 Wabash engines 2337 / 2339 have been covered as already mentioned. Both the Northern Pacific and Minneapolis and St. Louis GP9's were reissued the 1970's Service station special sets. These were both '027' build as they had the integral motor trucks. Later the NP was again reissued with the upgraded separate motor truck assembly. The Boston and Maine twins 2359 and 2361 were reissued  in 027 in 1976 and in the 2000's as a 3 unit TMCC set. The Tuscan 2028 has not been reissued, but a green 027 version was available in 1973, but the graphics were not the same.  The stripped down C&O GP7 in 1962 and it's very rare cousin from the Sears set was almost duplicated but the 1962 'Defender' set was the last conventional classic set cataloged, but it was never made. I think that covers all the postwar Geeps.
