Please note that item 6-81424 Thomas and Friends Sodor Crane & Work Caboose, shown on page 6 of the Christmas catalog, has been dropped and will not be produced.

It has come to our attention that the add-on cars for the Frosty the Snowman LionChief set are shown on page 4 of the Christmas catalog with incorrect specs. Although the description indicates that these cars are equipped with die-cast metal trucks, they will be produced with plastic trucks, matching the cars in the set. This change will result in the following revised MSRP on each of the cars:

6-81426 Frosty Animated Gondola. (original MSRP: $74.99) revised MSRP: $59.99.

6-81427 Frosty Aquarium Car (original MSRP: $84.99) revised MSRP: $69.99

6-81428 Frosty Boxcar (original MSRP: $64.99) revised MSRP: $49.99

Please note that item 681729 - Albert Hall Passenger Car 2-Pack – from the 2014 Ready to Run catalog has been dropped and will not be produced.

Yes... I was wondering why the Lionel online shipping schedule has been listing (and still shows) the 6-11181 CN Piggyback Set with an August 2014 shipping date  when the set shipped to dealers some time ago.

Thanks for the updates, Charlie.

Possible... But with all the scheduling complexities surrounding overseas factory production these days, importers have enough trouble trying to get trains -- especially sets -- produced (and shipped) once let alone attempt a split production run.  I guess we'll never know the real story here, but one thing is for sure... there's certainly no shortage of occurrences that leaves us shaking our heads in amazement at all the stuff that just makes no sense these days.

PTC, these two cars actually were produced fairly recently.  The Combo car was part of the most recent production run that included the diner.  And the Abandoned Toy car was part of the production run prior to that which also included the baggage car.  Most of these later PE cars are still available at dealers these days.  But the earlier-produced cars that included the observation car are the tough ones to find today.  So hopefully Lionel won't back off on the scheduled production re-run that includes the observation car.

Yes, I ordered the baggage, observation, combo, diner, and coach from a dealer this spring and was surprised when a few weeks later, the baggage, combo, and diner cars were at my door.  I thought I was going to be waiting for all of them the end of this year.  It was a nice surprise.

I am also shocked that the PE cars are going to be cut.  I thought there were quite a few of us who missed out on the PE scale trains the last time and would jump in and get the whole collection this year like I did.
