Hi Mike, I don't know part number and the ones on the Trainz website appear to be to big. I will try the motor doctor next. Thank you.

According to Greenberg's Guide to Prewar 0 & 00 vol. II, the 1651E used most of the features of the Lionel 253, so there is a chance that brushes for a 253 would be the replacement part. It is worth the look, and find if it what you need. The listing under the 1651E made a statement about the frame of the 253 being reworked, to accept a different motor, later on, but by reading the description of the 1651E, I would presume that they used a 253 early motor.
Thank you for all the replies. Stew 1957 , the brushes and springs I need are similar to a Lionel whistle tender but with a slightly smaller diameter. Teledoc, I'll look into the 253 brushes as it sounds like they may work. RIKI, Tebollt does not list them, I may call to see if they do have them. Lenny
