I'm looking at pre-ordering the 1926240 MOW Kitchen Car With Sounds along with the matching 1926181 MOW Bunk Car and 1926300 MOW Tool Car. I've also noticed the 6-85377 MOW Disconnect Work Car 4 Pack. Would all of these cars normally go together on a work train? Or are they from different eras? I have the MOW Operating Crane Car and the matching Boom Car with Sounds. I'm thinking about whether one big long work train with all of these would look good and also be "appropriate"?

No. The disconnects are for a logging operation. In a perfect world they would be of a narrow gauge instead of the same gauge as the mainline. Of course Lionel made them O gauge as 99.9% of their customer base has O gauge logging operations.
The 3 new offerings would go with your crane & tender as both could be dispersed to help with construction/repair efforts.

Thanks - that clears it up tremendously. No need to put together "goofy" consists.
Also note if you decide to build a goofy consist with the quick disconnect and the bunk cars, make sure the 4 axle bunk car is ahead of the lighter weight 2 axle disconnects or you may stringling on the curves.
On the secondary market are K-Line's Foreman's cars. Lighted interior, desks, bunks, people and a smoke unit. Santa Fe letters and logo could be painted over and new black decals applied for other railroads. This would be an ideal product to offer in MOW gray with no lettering and include decals for five or six of the most popular railroads modeled in O scale. John in Lansing, ILL

Looks standard gauge to me:

Yes, there were some standard gauge logging outfits. The majority were narrow gauge.

This would be a great item for Lionel to consider as a follow on to the Kitchen Car if those go over well. Especially if they added foreman dialog and did a smoking unit that could be controlled via Cab2.
I'm aware there were standard gauge logging operations but the question was about the Disconnects going with the MOW cars now being offered. I'm not aware of Disconnects being used on a standard gauge logging operation as I've never seen any pics. If anyone has additional information I'm all ears and thank-you in advance.

mopac01, Very few sold at $70. How many do you think will sell at $170 if Cab2 sounds and smoke were added? John in Lansing, ILL

Well, I'm guessing it would be a lot higher if my original qualifier held - namely that the Kitchen Car goes over well. If it does, then there is the whole "get the entire set" mentality. At that point Lionel would a great follow on. But who knows? I'm still waiting to see a re-run of the Visionline tanker with sound. Sometimes Lionel is hard to figure out.
What we need is a bunk car with sounds.

Awkward sound car if they had beans for dinner!
You could use a sound clip from the famous "Can we have more beans Mr. Taggart" scene in Blazing Saddles.
Well thanks everyone. I skipped the disconnects but went ahead and put in an order for the MOW versions of the Kitchen, Bunk and Tool Cars. They say June of 2019. But I don't know how accurate the Lionel shipping schedule is nowadays. But I guess they'll get here when they get here. They should go really well with the MOW TMCC Crane and Boom set. Add an engine and caboose from a given road name and instant maintenance consist for said road name.
