Has anyone had an issue with the communications between the engine and the tender for these engines?

I have a 6-1114 engine and to get the engine and tender to communicate I had to remove the red lens on the tender sensor.
Called Lionel yesterday. They said they never heard of this issue. Said it could be a bad sensor, wiring, board, etc. They suggested leaving the red lens out.
Went back and installed the red lens. Same problem. Took it back and out and it worked??? Strangest thing.
Dave, you are missing a digit on your part number. Not sure if this the Legacy engine or Odyssey. Regardless, are you sure the engine drawbar is fully engaged in the tender drawbar. Sometimes one gets bent up or down and the sensors don't line up.

This is the Mohawk L-2a that came in the set with cab number 2795. You are right I missed a digit on the number. It is a 6-11114. I do not believe this is legacy, but I purchase on eBay without any other documentation (other than what I could find on line). The draw bar looks to be straight, but I will look at it again. I have an older L-2a and the tender with the issue did the same thing on it. I then placed the tender on a scale Hudson and it worked just fine. I noticed the sensor on the Mohawks are further apart than on the Hudson. That is when I started looking at the receiver, etc.
