Nice video! What radius curves are you using?
Having seen these in person, I can see why the prices on the K-line 21" cars are still high. The Lionel cars look like plastic versions of the K-line cars. The aluminum finish is much nicer, IMO.
They are plastic versions of the K Line cars.
Lionel has aquired a good portion of the K Line scale tooling and has been reproducing it. The scale steamers, now passenger cars, who knows what else.
You can't use the same tooling that makes aluminum extrusions to make injection molded plastic. The K-Line cars were generic Budd cars. Most of the Lionel cars are based on the actual ESE cars, in particular the coaches. Good news for New York Central fans. Not so good for fans of other roads unless Lionel is going to make new molds for those cars too.

Nice Vid JOJO. What curves are they riding on.

They look really good to me and I had the Kline 21 inch ones.

I thought that the K-line ESE cars were specifically made prototypical, like many of the other 21" cars they made. I know that some of the other roads and/or specific cars were "generic."

You are correct. It appears the K-Line cars were also patterned after the NYC cars. It will be interesting to see what the SP cars look like as they were Pullman Standard. Lionel has done both Budd and PS in their 18" cars.

I agree. It will be interesting to see. My guess is that they will probably follow the K-line route and do "semi-generic" cars (some specifically prototype correct basic body types like Pullman Standard vs. Budd, domes, etc.)
Nice video. I bought the engine and am using the CCII ESE cars - only 18inches but give all the so-so comments on the cars kinda of happy I didn't buy the full set. I only hope the SP Daylight cars are better built than the ESE cars.
It is beautiful. Lots of smoke and great whistle steam.
Enjoy!
Mike
Nice video. Like it a lot. Watched some of your other YouTube videos and they were all equally as nice. Would love to see more of your layout and track plan.
Happy railroading
Todd
Great video, layout and set!
The smoke and whistle steam look great and the whole set looks great stretched out on the front straight.

Are you going to buy the 2 Pack Add-on and Station Sounds diner? I only see the 4 cars in your video.
