I tried this thread in the 3-Rail Scale and got only one comment, so, though I believe it is better suited in 3-Rail Scale, I will try it here to reach more railroaders:

I have two of the Lionel Legacy L&N GP9's and am wondering if Lionel missed with its choice of the grey they chose. It is my understanding that the grey L&N used was called Confederate grey, yet the Lionel grey seems more like a light blue.

Did L&N use a light shade of blue on some of their diesels?

Terry, Brandy here! I saw a lot of the L&N engines, both steam, as well as diesels. I don't ever recall seeing a light blue ever. That doesn't mean that I've seen everything that they repainted from the factory ordered colors. They may have blended some blues to get their Confederate Grey, but the only Blue I can ever remember was on one of their streamlined Pacific's and of course the Tri colors on their passenger diesels, of the 40's/50's! This probably don't help, but growing up in Louisville, Ky in the 40's and 50's, I saw a bunch!
