At first I wasn't going to get this engine because I thought it was an afterthought on Lionel's part to offer it in N&W scheme. I took the plunge last Friday and called Nassau Hobby Center and they got it right out and it was on my porch yesterday. The service that Charlie and Chris offer is second to none.

I ordered a NS Genset earlier in May and after sending it back to Lionel and them saying that there was nothing they could do to fix the terrible pulsating sound it made when the track power was on and it was just setting there. Charlie took it back without question. As a result I said the next engine that I ordered was going to be from Charlie. This Mallet is a beauty and runs great! Gotta love that whistle smoke!

Took my Mallet over to Don's layout last night. He had 42 radius curves and she didn't jump off the rails but it was a strain in a couple places. I'd agree with Lionel's specs on 54 radius.

This engine tracks well through switches and pulls well also. I'm very happy with my purchase. I hope to use this engine as a pusher someday after I get a Legcy Y, J, or A!

I'd "agree with Lionel's specs on 54 radius" too - they did manufacture the locomotive.

So....and, interestingly enough, I took my earlier earlier TMCC version of this "N&W"

loco to a friend's layout a while back for testing - he wanted one but has 042 curves.

We wanted to see if we could cheat the specs, too. No go; jumped the track on 042

every time. Front engine would climb up off the rails and go for a walk. (GG track.)

So...interesting. Track or individual idiosyncrasy? I think that the old-school round-

top tubular might be a little more sloppy - but in a good way, sometimes.

Doug, are you talking about the Mallet or a lead based woman?  But seriously, nice engine, thanks for sharing.  I'd get one, but I have a lead based woman due to the fact she has a .357!  One more engine just might put her over the top!
