Just a few photos of an NKP unit i picked up today at the local hobby shop (Grand Central Ltd, Lincoln, NE)  This is my second new Lionel locomotive, as i'm just getting started in 3 rail after being in N and HO for a while.  All in all i'm impressed with the unit, great sound, details are great and it's quiet when you run it with no sound, just purrs along.  No damage in transit, it was well packed away, however the front knuckle will not fire, but it does make the railsound noise of pulling the pin.   I dont really use that function myself, but i'll probably see if I can get it fixed should I decide to sell the unit in the future.  Really glad I decided to get this engine, and am considering adding a N&W unit to go with it to model a post merger N&W/NKP consist.

Great looking engine. It's on my list - I picked up a Lionel scale NPR baywindow caboose a few years ago, which has been in search of the right engine. Adam, be on the lookout for a scale NPR baywindow to go with your engine (they may have made an extended vision caboose version also). They're really sharp - red, white and black, with the big "High Speed Service" logo written across the top sides of the car.

Audi.. I have full voltage on the track, i'm using a TPC 300, and the rear coupler does open.

Breezinup.. Thanks for the tip on the caboose, i'd love to find a scale bay window "High Speed Service" caboose to go with it.

Cincytrains..  I'll give it a shot with the oil and opening/closing of it.  The thing that seems weird is that it does not buzz or anything, like the coil isnt getting any power.

You may need to take it to a Service Center or send it to Lionel for repairs.

I have this locomotive too.  I only run conventional so I can't help with the coupler. Hopefully it will be an easy fix and you enjoy your RS-11.

When these were cataloged, I had to have the NKP version...I chose #859.  Such a sharp paint scheme for the RS-11.  A Lehigh Valley dummy unit also found it's way to me.

I have one of these cabooses NIB I'd be willing to sell if you are interested. My e-mail is in my profile, in the "extended profile" thing. (that I didn't know existed until 5 minutes ago )
