Hi, I'm new here.  Wondered if anyone here could help me out.  I recently purchased an American Flyer SD70ACE diesel along with a Legacy command set, Legacy power master, and a Lionel powerhouse.  When I set everything up, no signal came through to the locomotive.  Am I supposed to program the legacy power master with my Legacy command set?  If so, how would I go about doing this?  Any replies would be appreciated.

I'm not sure this will help solve the problem you have, but the Lionel manuals are so poorly written that I had to figure this out myself. Once everything is turned on, you have to add the PowerHouse as a component in the Legacy system. I did this by pressing the ENG button, selecting 1 (you can pick any number, but 1 seemed simplest to me) on the LCD panel of the handset, and using the scroll button on the upper left to go through the categories that appear on the handset LCD panel to identify "1" as a "transformer," one of the options included with "diesel," "subway," and so forth listed in the remote control handset.

Once that is done, the PowerMaster has to be activated in the system. That is done by pressing the ENG button, selecting "1" on the LCD panel to pick the PowerMaster, and pressing the ON/OFF button in the lower left corner of the LCD panel. As you press ON, the red light on the PowerMaster should blink to accept the signal.

To send power to the track, you can turn the red velocity wheel, move the horn control, or otherwise engage the PowerMaster. I just turn the velocity wheel. At that point the SD70ACe should receive power and have its number boards light up. If you have set the program control on the locomotive to the programming position, then you can follow the instructions in the manual to assign it a number on the handset--as long as the number you use is different from the number you select for the PowerMaster.
