Hey all,

I've noticed that the GP35s have been out for a while, and a couple of people in the past had posted pics of the UP and Milwaukee versions.  Is there anybody that have bought the SP versions, and if so, can you share some pictures of it?  I'm curious to know if it has the SP-specific lighting package (red gyralite and horizontal MARS lights on the front nose; refer to prototype #6577 below for reference of what I mean:

The only pictures I've seen online of the SP ones are the catalog photos, which aren't really helpful since they're generic across all the other roadnames shown and likely were just retouched N or HO scale ones for the catalog copies.

Thanks in advance,

Thanks Peter for the pictures.

Looks like Lionel chose not to model the SP-style nose lighting package after all (sor of suspected they wouldn't) so it looks like I'll definitely pass on them like I did on their GP30s.  Too bad.

Also noticing that Lionel painted all the grab iron stirrups white on the SP models as shown on the front and rear noses.  Guess it's a bit of creative license to make the details stand out more I suppose although it's not really prototypical.

At any rate, I'm passing on these like I already said but I do hope you are enjoying your models, I'm sure the Legacy sounds are awesome.

Repainting the grab irons is trivial.  Kitbashing the nose by carving, cutting, wiring, sanding, paint matching, etc. for the lighting package, not so much.  Could I do it?  Yes.  Do I have the time & patience?  Nope.
