I just stumbled across these on the bay and they look pretty cool. Do they work well? Can you use track power at 18 volts?

I'm guessing you mean the new ones with the street lights on them? I have some on my layout and the look great. 18 volt may be a bit much and make them burn out quickly. I power mine with 12 volts direct hook up to transformer.
Can't find them for some reason...any pictures???
Thanks,
Alan
Alan check out this link, this is the ones I think.

David like said above try not to use track power, 18 volts is to much
use 12 to 14 volts max so the bulbs don't burn out fast.
Thanks, Alex
Thanks Alex....I don't know why I didn't find them...?? Anyway, they sure look nice. Wonder how tall they are?
Alan
Thanks Patrick...they look great. Certainly on my list now!

WOW for that price, I can't see why Lionel had to use lightbulbs instead of yelowglow LEd's! There really is NO reason nowadays to use Lightbulbs in any O guage train and/or acessory unless you the mfg are looking for built in obsolecense!.
Sure do, I learned from this guy using the 603 LED

And if you want to use the smaller 402 LED

I have bought from here:

Spoke too soon. The SILICA GEL was taped on top of the bases. My bad.

Actually, I cut the base off them, glue on an extension, and bury that in a hole drilling int he benchtop - much more realistic looking.
Thanks Lee.
I don't have your talent but I have thought about cutting and fitting the pole foundation into the "Quitebrace Insulation" and painting the base the same as the ground . I think the result would be the same.
Thanks for the help

Yes, I think it would, too. You just cut out a slight recess for it to fit into and they can even use a bit of spackling or filler to fill any crack the foundation causes and then glue/sprinkle some groundcover/bushes around the pole to disguise the base a bit more. It would look very realistic
