I recall the last shipping date I saw was July 15th.

 

As for glazed windows, I would have preferred crew figures, like the catalog said, but showed frosted. I was hoping they would have crew figures, then makes running in reverse look better, no eyes in back of head going on. looking forward to it. Not sure what to make of the metal vs. plastic gears debate.

Last time I looked it wasn't on the shipping list. Same thing last year when I ordered my LC+ Hudson. I asked Lionel when they would ship and the answer

I got was " They are already in the warehouse " I had it a month later. I guess

these might be still stuck on the loading doc on the west coast .... 8-)

 

As far as the figure, You can bet someone here will do something neat with it.

Yes, but I think most buyers will probably be adults, including plenty of experienced operators.

 

I'd bet the frosted windows are just on the demos at York, and the production versions will have clear windows. Clearly no other LC+ engine has frosted windows. (sorry

Actually, what was visible on most of the postwar versions was the horn, which was located in the cab area. A "C" battery was located over the rear truck, and the motor was on the front truck. The few units that didn't have a horn were pretty empty in the cab, as is my 616 while I search for a new old stock replacement horn.

Actually I do, too. Never know what we'll get as catalog illustrations and production models often end up looking slightly different than the final product.

Having said that I've preordered this one so am just looking forward to getting my hands on it.

I see, that explains why some sets have been getting a sudden price increase. inflation and higher production costs I would guess. The longshoreman strike and the loss of Portland Oregon's major shipping dock to container traffic, are not helping. At least that is an educated guess.

I don't see where it says that in the 2014 Vol. 2 catalog description. It just says it will have LionChief+ features, which are described as including lighted interiors with figures.

You're right. I don't think anyone else caught that. I sure missed it - that notation is really tucked away!

 

I wonder why they're doing that. No one has mentioned asking Lionel about it at York, which is quite strange.

 

I suspect many will be substituting clear windows, and also adding figures if there's any way they'll fit. (On some engines in the past, I've had to cut off inside arms, legs, etc., but always got them in somehow.)

If I recall correctly the image had frosted windows in it first listing. I just hope they get the correct trucks on it. There were some other typos and image errors in the 2014 catalogs, like the locomotives being swapped between the two Pennsylvania Lionchief train sets.

You can run a lion chief plus engine on a ZW powered traditional postwar layout ???

I do use  Legacy / TMCC also


I saw the B&O switcher at York and really liked it
If I want one I think I should get an order in soon

Yes, very happywith mine. Have two of the steamers and the B&O NW-2 on order. Will probably also get the E-33 Rectifier.

I run PW conventional and initially wasn't all that interested in LC+,  but the ability to run them remotely or conventionally -- as well as the other nice features -- sold me.

 

Wow, didn't realize this thread happened as far back as it did...  

 

In any case, thanks to the discussion here I pulled the trigger and ordered one of these NW2's today.  My LHS said they are scheduled to ship in July, does that sound right?  

 

Always been a steam engine sort of guy, but I've acquired several NW2's over the years as gifts, and I like them pretty well...Only diesels on my railroad at present, though an F3 ABBA is in the cards.   LC+ seems perfect for a switcher.
