I  recently caught up watching many Lionel Legacy Train Reviews on You Tube and something caught my eye that was very interesting.  Mr Eric Segal has been reviewing "O" Scale Engines on his You Tube Channel for years and out pops onto the screen this BN "O" Scale SD60M Diesel, but it was not Legacy.  Lionel tried something different.  They took one of there Scale SD60M Bodies and Used Lionel Chief Plus Electronics and Motors instead of the High End Legacy equipment in it.  So, I watched Eric's Review and it was quite interesting.  The engine was just sitting on the track until Eric demonstrated it's running capabilities.  The horn was awesome and it ran well and had nice crew talk, coupler plus bell sounds.  I know there Chief Plus NW-2 Diesels, Geeps and FTs are into scale.  I think the SD60M Diesel is a nice addition to the scale side of Chief Plus Engines,      sincerely yours     railbear601

They are scale engines but they are very sturdy. You don't feel like your going to break pieces off just picking it up to move it to another loop of track. They have very  good smoke units, loud horns and bells too. I have used Legacy and the LC+ engines and I like the features of Legacy but you can't beat the simplicity of the LC+ remote. I can let my 2 year-old run the scale LC+ SD60M no problem. Not so much with the Legacy version. I was also disappointed to they didn't do more.

If anyone can help me with this problem, I would appreciate it. I have tried using the LC+ universal remote with the new SD40T2, SD70ACE, and SW7, and with all of them, the railsounds do not change when you go in forward or reverse. It is like the prime mover just stays at idle. Everything else seems to work fine. I do notice that the reliability of the universal remote is not quite as consistent as the LC+ designed specific to the engine.

I know the new Legacy engines can be run with the universal remote but that is the reason I liked the SD60M Lionchief Plus scale models.
