Does anyone know what the length is on the RS-3 diesel that comes with the New York Central set? Thanks.

An RS-3 is pretty much the same length as a GP-7, about 14 inches.
Appreciate it!
This is just a guess. The RS-3s in the latest catalog (Lion Chief Plus) are 14.5 inches. So maybe the same for the set?

That's what I was assuming, just wanted to see if that could be confirmed. The only thing that threw me is that the LC set says that it'll work on O27 turns, where as th LC+ says O31. Who knows. Irregardless, a bit too long for what I'd like to do on my O27 track.
Not enable anymore than I already have, but I was just looking at this set recently. The set is at Menard's for a pretty good price, and right now you get a free flatcar. When I saw it in store I remember thinking that the RS-3 looked pretty long, if I were to guess I would say it was over 1 foot - probably 14 inches like the LC+ version. The Lionel website says that the LC version will negotiate 027 curves. The LC+ will negotiate 031.

I've found it elsewhere for cheaper. I'm getting pretty good at enabling myself! LOL
Though honestly, since I have so much O36 track, and enough rolling stock, and similar sizes, at these prices I'd be better off going with the E33 Rectifier you pointed out and enjoy the additional LC+ options.

Nice...
I really want to get a LC or LC+ for my son, trying to be somewhat patient to get a good deal on a LC+ steamer, but that E33 and this set had me re-thinking it.
Those LC/LC+ seem ideal for switching.
Here we go again
I have an MPC era RS-3 that is about 14". It does run on 027 but the overhangs are pretty big. The steps on the trucks and the handrails hang out a lot. It is the engine I use to check clearances.

Guys,
Sorry to butt into the discussion but if you're looking for a Lion Chief Plus E-33 I've got one that I was going to sell. Like new, 30 minutes, or less, track time. Have the box. It's the Virginian livery. Will let it go for a very reasonable price.
If interested, my email is my profile.
