I was at my local boscovs dept. store yesterday and saw they had this set there on sale for around 169dollars....its an rs3 set with two sharp looking cars....does anyone own this set? if so do you like it? is it worth getting?

This is a very light-weight engine... capable of pulling what you see. You might be able to do more with some added weight.

I have this set. It was in the catalog for a couple of years. It has no
problem pulling a half-dozen cars. I liked the paint jobs on this set.
Boscov's price is a nice mark down from the original catalog price.
This is a great starter set--a very attractive deco on the locomotive. In fact, this set drove my interest in collecting M&StL.
Just went and picked it up to be sure... it doesn't seem to weigh any less than most other starter engines, and mine routinely pulls 10-12 cars with no noticeable effort. Eventually I plan to find a busted one and make a dummy.
The only downside to the set is the Powermax transformer, which of course is anything BUT 'power max'.
