Can someone please tell me if Lionel 6-17331 Hoods Milk Car is supposed to have the road number 802 or 809? In the 2002 Vol.1 catalog it looks like it is 802, but everywhere I have looked it seems like the road number is 809. Can someone please enlighten me?

I don't have the actual car in front of me at the moment but my inventory lists the road number as 802/809 which can only mean I saw the discrepancy between the catalog and the actual car and entered it that way.
If no one else responds, I'll dig out the car later in the day and confirm it.
Thanks tr. I see it listed in the Greenburg price guide as "802" as well, so that is what has me scratching my head.
According to Lionel's product search, the number is 802. See here.
I saw that as well on the Lionel product page. But every time I see someone selling 6-17331 the road number is 809. Is it possible the prototype was 802 and then was produced as 809?
Mine is 809.

Hate to say it, but my Lionel Hoods car is 808.

what is the Lionel sku # on that?
808, really? I has never seen the Lionel Hoods No.808. I am pretty sure Williams had a Hoods 808 at one point, but never knew Lionel had one. I picked up an 809 from Ebay yesterday. It looks exactly like the 802 in the 2002 catalog. I am very excited to get it delivered. From the ones I have seen at shows and online it looks beautiful.
Oops. It appears I wandered in here by mistake. I thought you were discussing real Lionel milk cars, like the 34** series and the 3662.

Enjoy your 809. Is this your first Lionel STD O milk car? Be careful, they are addictive.
This is my first std O milk car. I can see how they can be addictive. I am trying to convince my wife that I need the other 3 from the 2002 catalog. I am sure you can imagine how that is going over.

I don't have the box. On the car side it says: 19894 built 2003 by Lionel.
According to the Greenberg guide that car was included with the operating milk platform.
Got home from the Pitt/Duke basketball game last night feeling bad about my beloved Panthers getting run off the court in the second half by the Blue Devils, and much to my surprise my wife tells me a package had arrived for me. I wasn't expecting this until today so I opened it and pulled out my 802/809 Hoods Milk Car. All I can say is, WOW!. The detail on this car is amazing. I was actually blown away. Having just gotten back into trains I can honestly say this car is the crown jewel of my collection right now. I must have spent 45 minutes just holding it and looking at every square inch. It made me forget about the basketball game very quickly. Now I feel I must add road number 810 and 811 to my growing collection.
