It will be interesting to see who will get them and how long the rest of us will have to wait.  I found out from my dealer last week that he only had the 4 car pack on order and not the 2 car pack.  He offered me the cars last year when I bought my S-3 from him, but he did not tell me he only had the 4 car pack order.  I called Charles Ro  last Friday after finding out and was able to get their last 2 car pack.  I am glad I was able to get them without too much searching around.  Please share some photo's, if you get yours.  Thanks.

I like them, they look good to me and  I'm sure many of those who receive them will like them too.

Charlie, I really appreciate your thoughts on these cars....I am looking forward to receiving mine also. I would not know what is right or wrong with the windows if I saw them. Hope you have a great week.

I will be getting my 4 pack tomorrow.  However, my 2 car pack is suppose to come from Charles Ro which I ordered over a week ago.  I have contacted them two times about the status and keep on saying they will ship on the day I call them, but they don't.  I see no charge on my credit card nor have I gotten shipping confirmation number.  I think it is strange that it is taking this long for them to ship it.  Has anyone else had a problem with shipping from Charles Ro?

The Lionel cars are painted for the current excursion train, in a hybrid paint scheme not exactly matching any in-service Milwaukee Road decoration. The as-delivered 1948 Hiawatha paint scheme had maroon letterboards and a grey roof. This scheme was replaced a few years later with a simplified scheme. The roof was painted black and the letterboards were eliminated; "The Milwaukee Road" was lettered directly onto the orange. The K-Line cars are decorated in this scheme, which was the last maroon and orange paint job before the switch to UP yellow. The excursion train has maroon letterboards and a black roof. I am not sure if some cars had their roofs painted black in the 1950's while retaining the maroon letterboards. Some photos appear to show this combination, but it's easy for grey to look like black in a photo, depending on the light when the photo was taken and what kind of film was used.

I like the color scheme Lionel is using, but like Don, I have lots of the K-Line cars and I don't intend to add Lionel cars with a different paint scheme to the mix. The windows are not a deal breaker for me (I have the Lionel Hiawatha set, which also has the protruding windows), but they are definitely a negative factor. I find it hard to understand why Lionel keeps doing this when it wouldn't be all that difficult to change to flush windows.

I'm still waiting to hear from Charles Ro that my 4 car set has shipped, but I do have my 2 car set and it is beautiful.

Yes, the windows do stick out a tiny fraction of an inch, but I don't think that this shows very much unless you are really looking for it. The chrome frames make the windows blend in very nicely in my opinion.

As far as paint matching goes, they match my F7 units beautifully, and they look fine mixed in with my WBB Hiawatha set.

I hope that I'm lucky and that my 4 car set arrives soon.

Here are my 2 cars mixed in with my WBB set and Legacy F7s.

I got mine this morning. They are sitting next to me here at work in the shipping box.  I look forward to take them home tonight and open them up.  I am still waiting for the 2 car pack from Charles Ro even though I ordered them 10 days ago.  However I talked to them this morning and they reassured me that they will ship soon and nothing has happened to my order.
