My LHS has informed me that my Lionel Milwaukee Road F7's have arrived.

I'll be interested to see the photos. I didn't order a set because I already had 2 sets of K-Line F3's and I just don't need another set of covered wagons. The improvement in sound up to Legacy isn't enough to make me spend the money to replace something I already have.
It will be interesting to see how the new Lionel units compare to the MTH units in the same paint scheme that are in the latest MTH catalog.
I'll be interested to see if the roofs are painted black or grey. There was some confusion about that based on the catalog picture (grey) and an earlier "sneak preview" picture (black).

Roofs are black just like I told you before
Wow those are just beautiful
Thanks, Alex
Good Looking Engines there Charlie - Can't wait to see them run

I'll try to get these on the layout in the morning for a run.

Sorry, I didn't recall hearing an answer on that previously. Glad they're black. Very nice engines. Been waiting a looong time for F units in this livery from Lionel.
Thanks Charlie for posting the video. I have a question, do these engine's rev
up on there own as you apply more throttle. Reason why I ask is because I have
the new NYC shark nose AA SET, and they don't really rev up on there own. I have
to rev them up via the legacy button's.
Really beautiful engine's enjoy.
Thanks, Alex
Nice engine! Lionel has been hitting some home runs lately.
Thanks Marty. Also they have fixed the marker lights on the F units in MU. Thanks for raising that issue to the Lionel team.
Alex.. I will check on the rev issue next time I run them.
Thanks Charlie, and I also say Lionel has been making just awesome
products. Thanks to Lionel.
Thanks, Alex
Much better Charlie.. I got to hear the engine this time.
I always call him and complain that he covers the engine sounds with too much whistle/bell.
mine are on the way!
Can't wait for mine!

Charlie, what passenger cars aren't you running?
Since Lionel has not shipped my new 18 inchers....i am running my Railkings. Have to say though that 15" cars work better on my layout.
American flags are a nice touch.
Charlie, sweet F7 engines - thanks for sharing a video with us. I hope this should fills a void in your Milwaukee Road roster!
One question, why no detail on the pilot?
Good Question Don. Guess I'll wait and see what others see when they open theirs.
It appears though as Lionel uses two different pilots on their F7's. The one delivered with these Milwaukee F7's
or this one:
one freight and one passenger??
The K-line is a freight pilot and the MTH is a Passenger pilot.
Very nice set. I'd prefer black grilles to bare metal but I give Lionel credit for doing their homework on the F-7s' original details. Maroon color looks just about right too.

Black would look better, but the stainless is prototypical, as shown in the photo of 110-A. The stamped grilles on the model do look quite a bit shinier than the prototype. Maybe the lattice of the grillwork is out of proportion; it's hard to tell from the photos. Painting the grillwork areas between the horizontal bars might be a good solution. Or dulling the stainless with a thin wash made of clear coat with a drop or two of black.
Is the front coupler on the locomotive sagging down ,should'nt it be going straight out.
Nice engine. Did Lionel correct the marker light problem?
I think the fuel tank should be all black?
Joe

Yes.

Close enough for me.

The orange paint at the bottom of the shell over the fuel tank looks lousy now that I really look it over.I will have to paint that area black on mine.

Yes.<<<
Charlie, I noticed in the video the front marker lamps appeared to be off.
Did you turn them off? To be correct, I think they should be lit in either green or white going forward with the rear facing unit in red?
Joe
Joe, I'm not sure what is prototypically correct.
I can tell you the rear are illuminated red when in MU on these units.
I will take a closer look next time I run them.
I really like the colors of the Milwaukee and also the Daylight. I thought I had enough trains but those two roads really make me want to stretch my wallet.
