They work very well Rich with the TMCC command system.

The missiles fire with the touch of a button on the fly if you choose.

Headlights and red flashing light on top.

You can add to the effects with the separate purchase sound car which is also neat!

Can't speak to conventional as I have never run it that way.

I have 2.  The one you mention and 6-18479 (US Marines).

I would sell one or the other if you are interested.  They are both in excellent condition with all packaging and paperwork.  E mail in my profile.

If you pick up a 28411, don't forget to add the sound car, lots of fun.

Works well, have no issues to report...

I bought one when they first came out and sold it a week later.  The missiles do not fly far at all when fired - consistently less than 3 feet with no elevation.   I had a 36" diameter loop and it wouldn't reach an exploding boxcar on the opposite side.   Save your money.

Awesome set.  My USMC #45 could hit the cat if it was found on the layout with devastating effect.  After a couple precision strike broadsides the cat was upstairs in a flash from anywhere in the room as soon as it heard 'scanning for targets'.  And stayed off the layout for good.
