Anybody else want to be a hobo as a kid?
I have all the hobo accessories and would buy more if they came up with new ones. My Halloween costume as a kid was a hobo in my age 10 to 12 years. Hobos were always represented on the layouts of my youth and it has carried over to this day.

Nope.
Got that one on my layout , what is the tune that is being played?

Nope, Davy Crockett was my choice.
Marty, real neat! Isn't the tune Beautiful Dreamer?
I'm sure most OGR readers have watched what is probably the most famous hobo motion picture that ever came out of Hollywood. I'm talking about Emperior of the North which starred Lee Marvin and several other well known actors. It is, in my opinion, a classic. I well remember the scene where a hobo scribbles this message on the water tower: "A No. 1 to Portland on 19".
Great train shots too. The very best is the meet between the 19 and a passenger train where 19 barely makes it into a passing siding as the passenger flies past the freight. Fantastic whistle talk too!

Yes it is.
Does the accessory play the tune? I see a push button on the layout surface.

Yes it does and sounds pretty good too. Unfortunately the central air kicked on right as I started the video so any noise you hear in the background is the AC.
I may pull out some of the other Hobo Accessories. The campfire, camp w/ boxcar, and I did have the shed but the smoke unit died.
How many OGR readers remember King of the Road sung by the late Roger Miller?
A pretty good tribute to the hobo:
"...Third boxcar, midnight train, destination Bangor Maine"...
Lionel will never make any of the hobo series again because it is disrespectful to the homeless.

Same here! "King of the wild frontier."
Well, as a testament to this accessory's popularity, there is a total of zero of these listed on the bay. Thank you all for bringing this to my attention. Now when and if I ever get back to a large train show, I will have something new to look for. This tower would be at home on a regular layout, but I would love to include it on my Halloween layout too. I gotta say that is the clearest sound I ever heard from a train accessory.
It would be an easy conversion to the Petticoat Junction tower with the addition of three ladies instead of the hobos.
Hobos were what are now called "itinerant labor" as opposed to "seasonal". They are not Tramps, Bindlestiffs or Bums.

I had a hard time finding one...until I did then they seemed to be everywhere. I've seen them at York so when the meet starts up again that would be a place to look. It's one of my favorite accessories!
maybe Lionel could do some market research. sounds like there would be a lot of units sold. imho
