Hi wondering if anyone had this problem the drive gear the drives the wheels is broken and lionel no long has the part would anyone know if I can put a post war power truck on it not sure if the can motor will work shame just to throw away a good engine but it seems that you have to when you buy china junk tried calling lionel ,email, them facebook them and got no reply there has to be a way to fix it I will enclose a picture of what I need Thanks for any help Ed boy cant believe how Lionel went down the tubes

It is from a premium traditional GP7. That part hasn't been available for several years now. Is the brass worm wheel stripped on yours?
No Chuck its the little plastic gear thats broken the engine is a 8237 Maritime Exploration
Any luck on finding this part? I just got an engine, 6-38778, in the shop that needs the same thing.

Bob I fond a truck on ebay the guy had it listed 2 lionel modern diesel trucks the one look the same but had a metal gear instead of plastic i bought them hoping it would work and sure enough it fit right on and work perfect sorry I have no part number I just went off the pictures they are out there but I would put the one on with the brass gear wish I could be of more help

I think I have used the gear successfully for repairs. If you can't find an original, give the -117 gear a try.
You can use Postwar part # 2328-78. The Train Tender has them.
Won't work. Drive gear is smaller.
