Lionel Pennsylvania Multiple-Unit

About 6 years ago I purchased a Lionel MU 6-19306 at a train show and it has run just fine until a month ago. I took it to my LHS, which has in the past repaired many of ny trains quite well. Unfortunately, I was told that this particular train uses a different power( or something like that) system then other Lionel trains and he could not repair it. Does this mean he couldn't get the parts or it is just shot. I had the feeling that he couldn't get the parts. I really like the looks of this set and would like to keep it running. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Hi, could you perhaps tell us a little more about what the problem with your unit is? Having a bit more detail up front can save a lot of questions later on. There are some very knowledgeable repair people, and others, on this forum. I'm sure that someone will be able to help you.

I heard or read somewhere that the Lionel MU's in the early 90's were made by MTH. The boards, I think, are PS1 or similar.

I just took the shell off and it's QSI board. It now runs off and on but no lights. Light bulbs looked fine, but didn't test them. I noticed that J&W Electronics supplies and reparirs enginges with this companys boards. Has anyone used them. Willing to get it fixed, if it is less then the value of the train.
