This is a problem that has plagued me for years and I never really knew how to remedy it. I thought I had too many accessories attached directly to the track which might of caused that. If anyone could give me some pointers that would be great.

I take it you mean the roller pick ups on locomotives. It could be that the motor is drawing too much amperage. What would cause that you ask. Possibly the motor may need new brushes and tuning up. But there are experts here that know alot more than I. I'm sure you will get a more precise answer than I can supply at this time.
Hey thanks. Yes I mean the roller pick ups. They always seem to heat up as I run them.
Two things come to mind. The inside of the roller has old oil built up on the roller pin and causing electrical resistance and weak pick up springs.
Another is like 2343 diesels spark a lot due to the material the pick-ups were made of. A simple cure to that is replace the rollers.

The 2023-22 style collector assembly can be used on the F3s to reduce sparking.
Definitely clean the rollers first to see if that helps.

I use CRC 2-26 on my rollers. Cleans and lubes them right up preventing them from cooking.
I think this is normal with pullmor motors. All of mine always got very hot. No so with can motors.

what does the insulation look like,,, is the screw / pick up touching any metal,, do you have a vom meter to check if they are grounding..
I recommend Deoxit-D5, does wonders for conductivity of all sorts of contacts, including the track rollers. You can buy it at Amazon, CAIG DeOxit Cleaning Solution Spray. It's a lot more than a contact cleaner, amazing stuff.
