I am currently doing a 2343/2353 Lionel Postwar ABA -with the UP City of Los Angeles paint scheme ( never done by Lionel). I am looking for "superdetail" items/parts that are reasonably possible that would fit.. i.e. the cab interior with engineer figures. Upgraded ERR parts(electronics) etc. I have documented/with pictures the entire process so far. Any help would be welcome. I have enclosed pictures of the "trashed" that's going to be "treasured". I don't do easy as the pictures will show. Restoration and preservation of history gives me a buzzz...Thanks guys!

Two sources; Des Plaines Hobbies and Precision Scale Company, PSC.. You'll find what you need.
By the way, putting fixed pilots on those locos would look much better.
Good Luck !!!

These two units are modeled after the Boston & Albany (NYC) passenger F3s built for the Lake Shore Limited and began life as 1950 Santa Fe 2344s very much like the ones you've pictured above.
Given my dismal photography it may be hard to see, but they got their windshields widened and grilles opened, then received full chicken wire treatment, high fan housings, steam generator equipment, lift rings, handrails and grabs, fixed pilots, Kadee couplers and, of course, new paint. I never managed to find the right horns. Most of the parts were acquired from Fraser, Michigan's P&D Hobbies, a great source of O scale details.
These were done in the early '90s, before the appearance of the MTH and Lionel scale F units and prior to the advent of TMCC and DCS, so they're strictly stock under the shells.
Please let us see pix of your UP set when you're done, and along the way if you can.

A topic I'll really enjoy following. Great project @Mike Casatelli (but work on those photos--your workmanship should be better presented; heck, have your spouse/buddy/child snap some for you/us).
Like Mike, I did mine before LIONEL and others introduced detailed F units. Mine added brass scale number boards, plastic raised fans, scale porthole windows, a third porthole on B units, and some minor body filler alterations.
The Burlington F-2 has brass number boards, high fans, third porthole, and second headlight. I have photos of the prototype, but can't post for copyright issues.
