How many Lionel postwar sets had a matching caboose?

Not sure off hand but you can look in the Lionel catalog for post war trains and see. Most post war sets should have a matching caboose is my opinion.

I don't know either but am going to guess that it's a pretty small number. Didn't most of the PW sets come with a version of the SP caboose? And then the Lionel Lines bay window?
Most were Lionel Lines, a few with road names didn't always come with a matching engine name.
Many sets had the SP caboose despite the engine being another road name, same with the PRR N5c porthole window caboose being with non PRR engines. I dont think the real matching came will the MPC era sets with engine road name and caboose matching. But then most postwar sets, atleast the steam powered sets were Lionel Lines on the tenders, so the caboose could be anything road name wise. Its funny they did the SP caboose thru the postwar era, but never a SP locomotive to match it! Mike
The 2555W set was one that stands out... 2291W as well. 2513W had a matching caboose.
There really weren't that many that matched road names, and aside from the PRR N5C when the roadname matched, the type/style did not.
Rob mentioned two, but there were others such as #'s 1611, 1615, 1619, 1633, 1629, 1800, 1643, 2517, 13028, 11530, & 12800. That should the bulk of it.
At work so I don't have the set number....one that has always stood out in my mind is the Virginia Rectifier set from 1958.
