Which # Lionel pressure track trip is appropriate for Lionel Standard Gauge, or does one # work with both Std & O gauges ?
Thanks !

A track section with an isolated outside rail is a reliable and inexpensive alternative.

Follow Kirks advice, an insulated running rail on one side is a MUCH more reliable method.

Although I would prefer using an outside rail like I do on my permanent O gauge layout, I've been using a Lionel #153C contactor for activating the gateman on my temporary standard gauge Christmas layout every year for many years now.

Fran, to directly answer your question I believe it's a #41. Which is an overgrown 145c.
I tried the pressure switch on a temporary layout and gave up. Insulated rail is much easier and more reliable. IR switch works OK, but not near windows.

Thanks for the replies, all !
I picked-up a 145C contactor from a local train shop's junk box for cheap... too small for SG track.
I will keep an eye out for the #41 and 153C contactors.
I am not dismissing the idea of an insulated rail operating track... could build another one.
I ran into electrical difficulties with my single section of operating track, powering #69 warning bell, and #77 crossing gate from a lock-on, when I tried to add an American Flyer animated station on a separate lock-on.
Was thinking that getting a dedicated contactor for the station might be an "easy" solution...
