Lionel PW MPC era black frame paint

Looking for advice/direction. I picked up a Lionel 8970/71 set (1979 era) of PRR F3s. (MPC). The frames and truck side rails are pretty beat up. I was reading where Satin Black spray paint is almost an exact match to the black F3 frames of the later Centennial series.  Does anyone know if that holds true for the MPC F3 frames as well? Recommendations greatly appreciated.
