I have the Erie and it's a finely detailed loco. There are 2 things I'm not crazy about: 2 chuffs per revolution and the Seuthe style smoke unit about which I learned early on that it doesn't work very well in conventional (it got me into command control). Also, it prefers the naptha based smoke fluids out there to even Lionel's own standard fluids. None of which would stop me from getting one if I had to do it all over again.

I have their Mikado and I took out all the electronics so I could run it on DC.  It doesn’t have a chuff… at least not a mechanical chuff like AF and AM.  As so as I turned it on the Seuthe was gone – no great loss there either for me.  My Flyer and AM put out more smoke than I can handle.  I generally turn off the AM smoke and let the Flyer run out.

As for the road name, I’m not interested in any that are available.  But on the other hand, would I ever get around to repainting it?  Well sure some day in the next 100 years or so.  But gut it I would and put Kadees front and back, then it would go to the back burner.
