I was looking over a few of the early/mid 90's Lionel Catalogs and forgot about the e units some of the units came in. I have all of the engines from the 90's with Lionel's LIONTECH E-Units. (Dash 8-40 C's/B's, SD-40, etc.  The catalogs state you can run these engines equipped with this unit in tandem without locking the reverse unit. Can the engines run back to back, or do they both need to be facing forward for the engines equipped with this unit?

I never tried it yet as my collection is currently being stored. Just curious.

Its probably that some capacitor discharges and the units default to the first state in a 'state machine.'. Wild guess is run forward. Wild guess if you want to run one unit backwards, you would have to flip the wires to the brushes, and from then on, it would start in reverse.

I had the Illinois Central SD40 with LionTech a long time ago. Spent so much time on trying to convert to TMCC, in the end, I sold it. The shell is actually larger than scale to accommodate the Pullmor (universal) motor.
