I was just thinking it is starting to look rather dated. For all I know they could be working on a new one but its definitely time.

Most firms websites are a work on progress. I am OK with the current version. It works for me.
Lionel's looks better than most.
At least I don't get a unsafe/insecure website warning when I go look for parts.
I like the current website. I would hate for them to change it just because they felt they need to change it. I agree with RickO. It's not broke, so why?
I don't miss any functionality on the Lionel site. It's fast, plenty of tabs to get around without hiding much under other tabs. There are a few non obvious paths to data, and a somewhat lame search engine in certain categories, but it's basically ok I think.
I have to sing with the chorus here.
Don't fix stuff that ain't broke!

Seems like every site that updates makes things worse, not better.
I agree as well - I like their current website and it works well for me.
I think Lionel's site it is just fine the way it is. MTH is also really good but I wish Atlas would do a better job on their web site is hard to get around and just to out of date for me..

Perhaps there could be an argument that the esthetic is mildly date. I can get over that. The functionality performs better than most.
If there's an effort in improvement, I would wish it to be focused on the 'product search' tab. Text searches are narrow and often yield no result. For instance, if one enters UP such & such, It's likely that just a few items, if any, will appear. If one types in Union Pacific such & such, the added effort will generate better results, assuming you have the such & such entered to it's liking. I would rather see effort applied with this feature than on graphic design. I harbor no notice that Lionel's product search will ever function as MTH's in that it will actually lead an interested buyer to a in-stock retailer. Besides, the accuracy of that feature is at the mercy of the participating retailer.

Agreed. Both Lionel's and MTH's websites function well. Atlas', not so much. I don't imagine there will be improvements in the near future in light of that they are struggling with product delivery. For now, I rather they focus on that rather then fuss with a website.
It's fine, easy to navigate.

I couldn't agree more.

I'll have to disagree about the MTH site. The dealer parts site has had an invalid certificate for a long time, and the latest versions of Firefox won't even let you proceed! I have to fire up IE to access the parts site, that's inexcusable!

True. When I made my blanket appraisal, that element was not on my mind. I stand corrected. Thanks for the reminder.
I think the Lionel website is very good. I especially find the ability to look up schematics and parts lists, of their locomotives (both new and old), to be invaluable.

Yeah, leave it alone. I use it for 3 things only:
1 - new catalogues - until I get the paper
one and can really enjoy looking at it.
2 - Find a Product - works well
3 - Replacement Parts - seems to be flawless, so far as it goes - about 30 minutes ago,
in the mail, I got 2 Mohawk rear trucks for a project, and a Dash-9 RS 4.0 board for my latest ERR upgrade (I fried the original board - my fault). Ordered on Monday, I think.
SO - Don't Touch It! I don't care what it looks like, so long as the functionality is there
Now, Mr. MTH, please just copy Lionel's parts system, please. I'll be buying parts from
you, too, if you do. Now, not at all.
Threads like this complaining about websites usually surface on forums and message boards after "updates" and "improvements". People are creatures of habit and generally don't like change, especially as they get older. Me? I'm older but still a change junkie and prefer any such modifications to make a website more informative, functional and easier to navigate. Echoing the preponderance of responses, leave it alone if they can't do that.
What, me worry?
Please, NO changes just so some fool can get a raise. There are so many poorly designed web sites out there sometimes you have to wonder who hired the designer and the individual who approved it.
