I just got around to running my salad bowl set, with the add on engine and the engine with the set. My question is at the rear of the locomotive there is a five cluster light. Four lights come on but the top amber/red light doesn’t come on at all. Is it a dummy lens or is it supposed to light when the engine is in reverse?

I’m just currently testing the set out on my loop, and I’m using TMCC.

I’m not an SP guy, but what I do know that I’ve learned from Jack ..........(Hotwater) .....the red light on the back would only be on if the locomotive was in helper service at the end of the train pushing ....so it’d be an EOT device ( end of train) or if the locomotive was running light ( no cars) again EOT being signaled......the front red light signals an air brake emergency..........might look in the owners manual to see if the rear red light can be turned on....I have no clue as I don’t own that set.......Pat

The salad bowl express was a unit train of lettuce that originated on the Southern Pacific in the eighties and ran to New York City. It was featured in the National Geographic program called "Love Those Trains" narrated by James Whitmore. SP fans may correct me on some of the details, but that is pretty much the gist of it.
