I recently acquired a Lionel SD70, 6-18238 and need to change the traction tires. The instruction manual that came with the engine does not indicate how to remove the side frames. I looked up the parts manual at the Lionel web site, but it shows only the 4 top mounted screws. But I can not remove the truck to get at them. I tried to twist them off like some of the trucks, but no luck.
I even tried to remove the truck from inside, but can not figure it out.
How do you remove the truck to get at the traction tires?
